Using Service Inventory

The Service Inventory application is located in the Network Infrastructure & Services (NI&S) Customer Portal. The application can be used to disconnect, edit details, and move current services. After logging into the NI&S Customer Portal, choose Service Inventory in the Services menu to the left.

Disconnecting a Service

1. To disconnect a current service for your organization, select the row of the service. Select the Disconnect button.

2. To disconnect the service as soon as possible, choose Disconnect as soon as possible, and then select the Disconnect button. This action is not immediate and typically occurs within 10 business days.

3. To disconnect a service on a particular day, choose Schedule disconnect, pick a date that is more than 10 days away, and select Disconnect. Disconnects do not require approval.

Editing Service Details

1. To edit the details of a current service for your organization, select the row of the service. Select the Edit button.

2. Make changes to the service’s details and choose Save. Different services allow different changes to be made. Services such as Zoom Phone, Cable TV, and Etherent allow for the current user to be removed and for a new user to be set. Some services, such as VPN and Unified Communications, do not allow editing.

To edit these services, submit a non-standard service request. Edits to existing services do not require approval and will not create a Service Request.

Moving a Service

1. To move the location of a current service for your organization, select the row of the service. Select the Move button. Ethernet is the only service that can be moved.

2. Select the building, room, and outlet of the new location. Check the box if a new outlet is necessary. Choosing a scheduled date is optional. Select Move. Choosing “New Outlet” means the installation of a new Ethernet outlet will occur–-this includes time and materials charges.
